Our Story

Your ideas deserve a strong platform. Whether you’re an aspiring journalist or have an interesting story to tell, you can have your say and be heard by having your work published and shared by ACYP. You’ll be providing relevant and personalised content to your peers in your own way, while also gaining the attention of those who make the decisions that affect your lives.

The Advocate for Children and Young People is creating an opportunity for you to be part of a young journalist team to write for an online content platform relevant to your interests. You can submit a single 250 to 600 word article or contribute on a regular basis that suits your schedule. We recommend submitting an article every six to eight weeks outside exam times, but it is up to you.

There will also be the opportunity to join, by invitation, a pool of regular featured contributors who will periodically submit articles on topics of interest to young people, such as education, safety, employment, travel, opinion pieces on relevant current affairs, event reviews and much more.

Along with the opportunity to be an opinion leader among children and young people in NSW this is a valuable opportunity to gain much sought-after experience in the world of online journalism by being published on a NSW Government platform.

If you are under the age of 24 and interested in being part of the Young Journalist team, please register below:
