The Advocate for Children and Young People, Mr Andrew Johnson, warmly welcomes the NSW Government’s response to the ‘Report into Reparations for the Stolen Generations’, Unfinished Business.
Mr Johnson stated that the NSW Government’s commitment to carry out actions, as outlined in the report, is a positive step forward in acknowledging the profound trauma and significant and continued harm caused by previous policies.
“Formal recognition of the impacts of past policies and practices, monetary reparations, and support for healing and cultural renewal represent a significant step forward for NSW,” Mr Johnson said.
“It is important to empower Aboriginal communities and organisations to monitor the implementation of these initiatives,” Mr Johnson added.
