Abbey, a 15-year-old with a Maltese cultural background, proudly identifies as LGBTQIA+. From Koonawarra in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven region of NSW, Abbey is a student at Five Islands Secondary College. Alongside her studies, she volunteers as a coach for the Figtree Kangaroos under 9s mixed football club, inspiring others with her passion for the sport. Abbey also organises charity events in her community, making a real difference in the lives of those in need. In October 2023, Abbey walked 40km to raise vital funds for Mental Health.Abbey hopes that through joining YAC, she can confront the pressing obstacles faced by disadvantaged youth and work towards alleviating the effects of generational trauma. “Being appointed to the YAC is an incredible opportunity for me. My passion is to empower and uplift young individuals by providing them with valuable knowledge about support services available to them”, said Abbey |
