Bullying

Bullying has been a major concern raised by children and young people across all ACYP consultations, beginning with the consultations for the NSW Strategic Plan for Children and Young People. To investigate this more deeply, ACYP conducted face-to-face consultations with 157 children and young people in schools and youth organisations in the Greater Sydney, Central Coast and Central West and Orana regions.

In these consultations children and young people discussed what bullying means to them; the locations where bullying happens and what they think are the best ways to stop bullying. These findings were confirmed through an online poll of 1,000 children and young people across NSW.

The issue of bullying has also appeared strongly in consultations with Aboriginal children and young people and in consultations with refugee and asylum seeker children and young people, as well as being reported as an issue of concern by children and young people living in particular areas of regional NSW.
