Disaster Consultations

The Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People (ACYP) acknowledge that many children and young people across NSW have been impacted by the recent disasters (i.e. bushfires, flooding and drought). In response, ACYP have organised specific consultations to better understand the effects these disasters are having on children and young people to ensure their voices are heard.

Many of the consultations are occurring face-to-face, however we recognise it isn’t possible to hear from everyone in person. That is why are accepting submissions from children and young people, individuals, professionals, organisations and departments who are interested in contributing to this work or would like to provide information or insight.

ACYP have also created online resources which outline the support available for children and young people across organisations during this time. These resources have been developed for children and young people as well as the adults who work with children and young people so that they can assist with distributing this information. Click here to access these resources.

ACYP focus on children and young people between 0 to 24 years of age however we appreciate that other services and organisations may wish to share their experiences on how these disasters affected children and young people. Those services and organisations can do so via the NSW Independent Bushfire Inquiry page or below.

If you would like to submit a submission below, please read the terms and conditions beforehand.
