The impact of disasters on children and young people is felt across all aspects of their life, from education to recreational activities, health and wellbeing, employment and housing.
Through a youth-led tailored and flexible approach, the RYSS successfully provided essential support, facilitated community engagement, and advocated for the wellbeing of children and young people in the Northern Rivers region in the aftermath of the 2022 floods.
The RYSS program has shown that a disaster recovery model designed for specific groups works well and can be adjusted for other at-risk groups. We are dedicated to sharing what we've learned from this program to make future disaster recovery efforts better.
