ACYP competition terms and conditions

Entry

  1. The Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People (‘ACYP’) whose head office is registered at 219-241 Cleveland Street, Redfern NSW 2012 is the promoter of the ‘Share your views with ACYP Quarterly Draw’ (‘Competition’).
  2. By submitting your entry, you or your parent/guardian accept to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  3. All entries are to be completed online through ACYP’s surveys here. Any entries sent or delivered to ACYP’s office will not be accepted.
  4. Only one entry from you will be accepted by ACYP for entry into the Competition.  
  5. When submitting your entry you must provide your name, age, address, email and/or phone number, details of the ACYP project you participated in, the name and contact details of a parent / guardian if you are under the age of 16 and consent for your first name, age and suburb to be displayed on ACYP’s website and announced on social media.  
  6. If you are under the age of 16 years old:
    a. ACYP may contact your parent, guardian or carer in relation to your entry. 
    b. you must receive parental or guardian consent to make an entry. 
    c.  you must provide a valid phone number and email address for your parent/guardian so that
         ACYP may verify such consent.
  7.  The personal information (‘PI’) collected by ACYP is to be used for the purposes of the Competition, in relation to ACYP’s work and to improve its services. If you have registered to be invited to engage in ACYP’s consultations during 2024 your PI will be added to ACYP’s information database stored on a shared drive and hubspot and used to disseminate other ACYP communications. If you have not consented to engage in ACYP’s consultations during 2024, your PI will be de-identified including age, postcode, gender and a non-mandatory question about demographic characteristics and will be stored by ACYP. De-identified PI may be used to report on your views in the survey but will not be used to identify or contact you. ACYP is bound by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW). You have a right to access and correct the PI that ACYP holds about you. If you would like to access or update your PI, please contact us by emailing acyp@acyp.nsw.gov.au.
  8. ACYP will not disclose any of your personal information to a third party without consent. However, if you are under the age of 16 years old, ACYP may contact your parent or guardian in relation to the Competition without your consent.
  9. No responsibility is accepted for entries not received by ACYP and/or incorrectly completed by the closing date and time. ACYP’s decision as to when an entry is received or whether the entry is incorrectly completed is final.
  10. ACYP is not responsible for incorrect information submitted such as phone number, email or mailing address.
  11. ACYP’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the Competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the Competition.

    Eligibility

  12. ACYP will only consider entries from children and young people between the ages of  14 to 24 years old living in NSW with a NSW mailing address, and who have completed a ACYP survey or participated in ACYP consultations or events.
  13. Your age for eligibility assessment purposes will be your age as at the date your entry is received by ACYP.
  14. Employees of ACYP and their close relatives and anyone connected with the ACYP are not eligible to enter the Competition.
  15. You are only eligible to win one prize per financial year. 

    Prizes and winning

  16. ACYP will conduct one draw for the Competition every quarter of the 2023/24 financial year from September 2023 to June 2024 (‘Quarterly Draw’).
  17. Prizes will be drawn from ACYP’s head office at 219-241 Cleveland Street, Redfern NSW 2012.
  18. Three (3) winners will be selected from each Quarterly Draw (that is, a first prize winner, a second prize winner and third prize winner).
  19. Winners will select a prize from a list of age-appropriate items to be determined by ACPY. The value of the 1st prize is approximately $250, 2nd prize approximately $150 and the 3rd prize has an approximate value of $100.
  20. Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and are not redeemable for cash or any other prizes.
  21. ACYP accepts no responsibility for any cost associated with the prize that may be incurred by you.
  22. Winners will be chosen at random by a Microsoft Excel function designed to generate a random winner from a list of entrants. There will be two (2) ACPY representatives present to witness each Quarterly Draw.
  23. Winners will be notified via phone or email (if provided).  If the winner cannot be contacted by phone, an ACYP representative will leave a voice message and send an email to the winner thereafter, if an email address has been provided.
  24. The winner must respond within 14 days of notification by email and/or voice message.
  25. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within 14 days, ACYP reserve the right to choose another winner (‘Redraw Winner’). The same process will be repeated if the Redraw Winner also cannot be contacted or fails to respond within 14 days.
  26. The winners’ first names, age and suburb will be published on ACYP’s webpage, at https://www.acyp.nsw.gov.au/ and on ACYP's social media pages:

  27. Prizes can be collected from ACYP head office or delivered to winners via registered post to their postal address.

    General terms

  28. ACYP will not be responsible for any prize not received due to any error or omission in the address nominated by the winner, or for any late, lost or misdirected deliveries or mail.  ACYP reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, accepting the entries with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of ACYP in all matters under its control is final and binding.
  29. ACYP reserves the right to change the opening and closing dates/times or to accept late entries, at their sole discretion. ACYP’s decision in this regard will be final.
  30. ACYP shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  31. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales. ACYP and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
