NSW Children’s Week 2025 art competition terms and conditions 

  1. The Office for Youth, led by the Advocate for Children and Young People (‘ACYP’) and NSW Youth Advisory Council, at their discretion, will determine whether your artwork entry (‘entry’) is to be considered.
  2. By submitting your entry, you or your parent/guardian accept to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
  3. Office for Youth will only consider entries from children and young people between ages 0 to 18 years.
  4. Only one entry will be accepted by each individual or group. This will be the first entry received by Office for Youth.
  5. Your age for the eligibility assessment purposes will be your age as at the date your entry is received by Office for Youth.
  6. The Office for Youth will not accept responsibility for entries not received by the closing date or for entries that are incorrectly completed. The Office for Youth’s decision on submission timing and completeness is final.
  7. Office for Youth will consider entries from those who physically live in NSW with a NSW mailing address only.
  8. All entries are to be submitted online through Office for Youth’s website with all supporting information or materials uploaded. Any physical information, applications or materials sent or delivered to the Office for Youth office will not be accepted, nor will Office for Youth be responsible for their return.
  9. When submitting an entry, you must provide your name, age, address, and the name and contact telephone number of your parent(s) or guardian.
  10. Office for Youth accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with creating the All entries should be created with items already accessible and available to you. 
  11. If you are under 18 years old:
    1. Office for Youth may contact your parent, guardian or carer in relation to your entry.
    2. You must receive parental or guardian consent to make an entry. You must provide a valid phone number and email address of your parent/guardian so that Office for Youth may verify such consent.
    3. Office for Youth is not responsible for incorrect information submitted such as phone number, email or mailing address.
  12. You must exclusively own all intellectual property rights in your entry. Proof of ownership may be required, and you agree to complete or provide all such documentation upon request to confirm such proof of ownership.
  13. By submitting your entry, you grant to Office for Youth, whilst fully retaining your intellectual property rights to your entry, a world-wide, royalty-free licence, including a right to sub-licence, to enable Office for Youth and its sub-licensee(s), including third parties, to freely use your entry.
  14. Office for Youth will not disclose any of your personal information to a third party without your consent. However, if you are under 18 years old, Office for Youth may contact a particular service or organisation in relation to your entry without your consent.
  15. Inappropriate entries including but not limited to those depicting nudity, violence, unsafe activities, substance abuse or misconduct will not be accepted, determination of which is at the sole discretion of Office for Youth.
  16. You or your parent/guardian indemnify the Office for Youth on demand by the Office for Youth in respect of all claims demands, liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described) losses, costs or expenses directly or indirectly incurred or suffered by the Office for Youth in respect of the following:
    1. any infringement by you of any intellectual property rights of any other person in respect of your entry;
    2. making your entry;
    3. any injury or damage to you and your parent/guardian or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with making your entry;
    4. the use of your entries by the Office for Youth; and
    5. any breach of these Terms and Conditions. 
  17. Your entry or entries will not be returned to you.
  18. The prize is subject to availability. Office for Youth reserves the right to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into regarding prize changes.
  19. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and is not redeemable for cash or any other prizes.
  20. The winner must respond within 7 days of notification of winning to claim their prize. Class / group entries will be sent to the teacher / guardian. 
  21. Office for Youth may choose another winner (‘Redraw winner’) in the event that the original winner fails to respond within 7 days. The same process will be repeated if the Redraw winner also fails to respond within 7 days.
  22. Office for Youth accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the Prize that may be incurred by the winner.
  23. Office for Youth will not be responsible for any prize not received due to any error or omission in the address nominated by the winner, or for any late, lost or misdirected deliveries or mail.
  24. Office for Youth reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, accepting the entries with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of Office for Youth in all matters under its control is final and binding.
  25. Office for Youth reserves the right to change the opening and closing dates/times or to accept late entries, at their sole discretion. Office for Youth’s decision in this regard will be final.
  26. Office for Youth shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  27. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales. Office for Youth and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that State.
  28. Office for Youth at their own discretion will determine if entries are to be published at a time and manner that is appropriate. This may include but is not limited to publishing the winning entries on social media, inclusion in the annual report and end of year greeting card.
  29. By entering, you acknowledge that the Office for Youth may feature you and/or your artwork in online platforms such as social media and the annual report, as part of the competition’s promotion. 
  30. Office for Youth collects personal information in order to use your submission in relation to the Work, and to improve its services. The provision of personal information is voluntary. If you decline to provide your personal information you will not be eligible to make your submission. Office for Youth is bound by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW). Your personal information is held by Office for Youth. You have the right to access and correct the personal information that Office for Youth holds about you.   31. Office for Youth reserves the right to modify or alter your entry for display or publication purposes (resizing, cropping or editing) but will not alter the core creative content or the original message of the artwork without your permission.
  32. Your name will be credited where your artwork is used.
