Children’s Week is a national event held annually around the fourth week in October, promoting awareness of children’s rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The week encourages children to be seen, heard, and celebrated in every community.
The 2025 Children’s Week theme for 2025 is based on UNCRC Article 42: ‘Everyone should know about children’s rights’.
To celebrate NSW Children’s Week, the NSW Advocate for Children and Young People created a series of resources to support children to learn about their rights. This document is intended to help guide educators’ use of these resources.
To celebrate Children's Week, the Advocate has created a video featuring children from across NSW explaining Children's rights in a child-friendly way.
The below animated video, created by the Australian Human Rights Commission, introduces viewers to children's rights. For more information about children's rights visit: www.humanrights.gov.au/kids
