The Advocate for Children and Young People, Mr Andrew Johnson, warmly welcomes the NSW Government’s response to the ‘Report into Reparations for the Stolen Generations’, Unfinished Business.

Nearly 150 school students from 40 schools have taken part in a Citizen’s Jury to decide whether sugary drinks should be banned from schools and sporting events. The verdict: 59% said yes and 41% voted no.

The NSW Advocate for Children and Young People, Andrew Johnson, will this morning launch, at Parliament House, a compilation of short videos that highlight when a child or young person’s voice was not heard at an important time in their life. They are based on stories of lived experience.

Today, the NSW Advocate for Children and Young People, Andrew Johnson, announced the winners of the REAL NSW Photo Competition at Parliament House. Hundreds of children and young people in NSW submitted photos to REAL NSW to show how they really want to be portrayed on websites, in magazines and in general.

Sydney: NSW Advocate for Children and Young People Andrew Johnson appeared before a Parliamentary Joint Committee Inquiry into the sexualisation of children and young people today.

Over 4,000 children and young people have provided feedback to the NSW Advocate for Children and Young People to set the directions of the first NSW Government Strategic Plan for Children and Young People.

The Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People recently held a forum with over 100 non-government and civil society organisations to gain their input on the themes and directions for the Strategic Plan for Children and Young People.
